Frequently asked questions

How do I create a meal plan?

  1. Open MealPot and tap Get Started. No account or sign-up is needed.
  2. Choose the supermarket you shop at.
  3. Set your weekly grocery budget.
  4. Tell MealPot about your household size, dietary needs, allergies, cooking styles and the equipment in your kitchen.
  5. MealPot builds your week on the spot — recipes, cook times, estimated costs and a grocery list grouped by aisle.

From the Plan tab you can open any recipe for ingredients and step-by-step directions, swap a dish you don’t fancy, or regenerate the week. Swapping a dish updates your grocery list automatically.

How are my meal plans created?

MealPot builds your weekly plan from a curated, human-reviewed recipe catalogue, matched to your household size, budget, dietary needs, and allergies. Every plan respects the allergies you set during onboarding. This matching is deterministic — MealPot does not use generative AI to decide whether a recipe is safe for an allergy you have selected.

How do the estimated prices work?

Every price you see in MealPot — per ingredient, per serving, per dish and for the week — is an estimate, not a live price from your store.

Estimates are built from weekly national average prices for the retailer you picked, and each plan shows the week the estimate came from. Your actual total at checkout will differ. In particular, estimates do not include:

Your weekly budget is a soft target used to shape the plan. It never blocks a plan that is safe for your allergies and dietary needs. MealPot is not affiliated with any retailer and cannot guarantee a retailer’s prices, product availability or product information.

What do Fridge Chef and Calorie Snap do?

These optional photo tools use AI. Fridge Chef looks at a photo of your ingredients and suggests recipes you can make now. Calorie Snap estimates the calories and macros in a photographed meal. All figures are estimates for general guidance only — they are not medical or dietary advice.

Fridge Chef or Calorie Snap isn’t working

Try these in order:

  1. Check camera and photo access. Open Settings → MealPot and make sure Camera and Photos access are allowed. Both features need one of them to read your photo.
  2. Check your connection. Photos are analysed online, so both features need internet access. They will not work in Airplane Mode.
  3. Improve the photo. Use good, even lighting and hold the camera steady. For Fridge Chef, lay items out so they are individually visible rather than stacked or still inside packaging. For Calorie Snap, frame a single plate or bowl from above and fill most of the frame.
  4. Try once more. If a result looks wrong or nothing is recognised, retake the photo — results vary with what the camera can actually see.
  5. Confirm you have MealPot Pro. Both features require an active subscription. If you have subscribed but they are still locked, tap Restore Purchases on the MealPot Pro screen.

If it still fails, email us at contact@majorgen.com and tell us your iPhone model and iOS version.

What does MealPot Pro include?

MealPot is free to download. MealPot Pro is a subscription that unlocks weekly meal planning, plan regenerations, Fridge Chef and Calorie Snap.

MealPot Pro is available with monthly or annual billing. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your localized price and billing period are always shown before you purchase, and your subscription is billed through your Apple Account.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by MealPot. On your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → MealPot and tap Cancel Subscription.

You keep Pro access until the end of the period you have already paid for. To avoid being charged again, cancel at least 24 hours before that period ends.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the app, go to the MealPot Pro screen, and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID you subscribed with.

Do I need an account?

No. MealPot doesn’t require any sign-up. Your preferences, plans, and grocery lists are stored on your device.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes all locally stored MealPot data from your device.
