PRIVACY POLICY

A conversation should feel personal, not exposed.

Who we are

Elseword (“Elseword,” “we,” or “us”) is a language-conversation app provided by Vanette’s Place Global LLC. This policy applies to the Elseword iOS app and its support pages.

What stays on your device

Elseword stores your learning experience locally using Apple’s on-device storage. This can include:

  • your app, help, and learning-language choices;
  • conversation transcripts and recaps;
  • expressions you save and their meanings;
  • personal memories you explicitly ask Elseword to keep; and
  • practice attempts and learning records.

Build 1.0 does not sync this learning data between devices. Elseword does not create or keep audio recordings on your device.

Live conversation and AI processing

When you start a live conversation, Elseword processes your microphone audio to produce an AI reply. Audio is sent through our Supabase service to OpenAI. OpenAI also receives the language settings and selected context needed for the conversation, which may include recent transcript excerpts, saved expressions, and personal memories you chose to keep.

When you request recaps, phrase help, or practice feedback, the related text and language settings are also sent through Supabase to OpenAI to produce the result.

We use this content to provide the feature you requested. Elseword does not use it for advertising. OpenAI and Supabase process data under their own service and privacy terms.

Anonymous service and usage data

Elseword creates a random, anonymous app identity. Secure credentials for that identity are stored in your iPhone Keychain. We use the identity to authenticate requests, prevent misuse, meter live-conversation time, apply purchases, and perform deletion requests.

Our backend stores the anonymous user ID, conversation-time credit and usage records, short-lived request and session records, and purchase event identifiers. These records are linked to the anonymous app identity, not to a name or email address supplied to Elseword.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes payments. RevenueCat helps Elseword read subscription status and deliver purchased conversation time. Apple and RevenueCat may process product identifiers, transaction and receipt information, subscription status, purchase dates, and the anonymous Elseword app identity.

Elseword does not receive your full payment-card details. An active Apple subscription can be restored with the same Apple Account. Extra-minute purchases are tied to the anonymous app identity on the installation and cannot be restored on another device.

Service providers

We use the following providers only for the jobs described above:

  • OpenAI for live conversation and language-learning responses — privacy policy.
  • Supabase for anonymous authentication, backend functions, usage balances, and deletion — privacy policy.
  • RevenueCat for purchase and subscription status — privacy policy.
  • Apple for App Store purchases and subscription management — privacy policy.

We do not sell personal information. Elseword does not include third-party advertising and does not use data for tracking you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Retention, export, and deletion

Local learning data stays on your device until you delete it in Elseword or remove the app. In Settings → Privacy & data, you can prepare a JSON export, delete conversation history, or choose Delete all my data.

Delete all my data first requests deletion of the anonymous backend identity and associated service records, then removes local learning data and the secure credentials from the device. Extra minutes associated with that identity are also removed and cannot be restored. Records that Apple and RevenueCat must retain for purchases, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance are handled under their policies.

If deletion cannot finish, Elseword keeps the local data and shows an error so you can try again.

Children’s privacy

Elseword is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the service, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Elseword changes or legal requirements develop. We will change the “Last updated” date when we do.
